Buffalo, New York – In a surprising yet strategic move, the Buffalo Bills have officially signed veteran wide receiver Cole Beasley, just hours after announcing Joshua Palmer’s injury. This marks Beasley’s
second reunion with his former team after spending a year away from the NFL, and he’s seen as the ideal replacement for Palmer — who suffered an injury in the loss to the Falcons and has struggled to maintain consistent form.
The 36-year-old Beasley was a crucial part of the Bills’ offensive system from 2019 to 2021, recording over 1,800 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns during that span. A 2016 All-Pro
with the Dallas Cowboys, Beasley is well-known for his sharp route-running, reliability in short-yardage situations, and deep understanding of quarterback Josh Allen’s play style. After leaving Buffalo to join the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, he had a brief stint there, reunited with the Bills later that season, and then spent a short time with the New York Jets in 2023 before stepping away in 2024 for personal and injury-related reasons.
“We’re thrilled to have Cole back. He’s not only a talented player but also a leader in the locker room,”
said head coach Sean McDermott during today’s press conference.
“Given our current situation, Beasley will bring the stability we need at the slot receiver position.”
Beasley signed a one-year, $2 million contract, which includes performance-based incentives.

The absence of Palmer, a young backup receiver battling injuries, has left a noticeable gap in Buffalo’s offense — especially as the team currently ranks low in average receiving yards per game (just 180 yards)
. With his experience and chemistry with Allen, Beasley is expected to fill that role seamlessly.
“Cole is as good a replacement as we could ask for,” said general manager Brandon Beane
“He knows how to find space when Josh extends plays, and he can help our offense improve immediately for the rest of the season.”
Beasley is set to join team practice on
