SAD NEWS: Buffalo Bills’ Joey Bosa and His Family Mourn the Tragic Loss of 7-Year-Old Cousin Eloise Peck in Texas Floods
The NFL community is reeling from heartbreaking news this week as Buffalo Bills star Joey Bosa and his family mourn the untimely death of his 7-year-old cousin, Eloise Peck, who tragically lost her life during the devastating floods that struck a summer camp in Texas over the weekend.

According to local authorities, torrential rainfall triggered flash floods that quickly overwhelmed the area surrounding the campgrounds in Hill Country, Texas. Eloise was one of several young campers caught in the flooding, and despite valiant rescue efforts by staff and emergency personnel, she could not be saved.
Bosa, known for his fierce presence on the field and quiet strength off it, was reportedly informed of the tragedy shortly before Sunday’s team meeting. He has since taken a leave of absence from all team activities to be with his family in this time of mourning.
In a heartfelt statement released through the Bills organization, Bosa shared:
“Eloise was a light in our lives — smart, funny, full of curiosity and kindness. Our hearts are shattered. My family and I ask for privacy and prayers as we try to navigate this unimaginable loss.”
The loss has triggered an outpouring of support from teammates, coaches, fans, and fellow NFL players across the league. Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media Monday, stating:
“Joey is a warrior, but right now, he’s a grieving cousin, a broken-hearted family member. We’re surrounding him with love and doing everything we can to support him and his family.”
Social media has since flooded with tributes under the hashtag #PrayersForEloise, with fans posting drawings, candles, and heartfelt messages in memory of the young girl.

Several Bills players have already begun organizing a charity drive in Eloise’s name, hoping to raise funds to support the affected families and improve weather safety infrastructure at youth camps throughout the state.
As the Bosa and Peck families begin the difficult road of healing, the world watches with heavy hearts. Eloise’s short life touched many, and her memory is now a symbol of innocence lost too soon — and a reminder of the fragility of life.
May she rest in peace.
