BREAKING NEWS: The Dallas Cowboys’ plan to salvage the season received a big boost when CeeDee Lamb officially returned with a positive update, rekindling hope for the entire team and fans. After a difficult time recovering from injury, Lamb has shown a strong recovery in recent training sessions, making the coaching staff unable to hide their excitement. His return not only strengthens the Cowboys’ troubled offense, but is also considered an important piece in the plan to salvage the season…

The Dallas Cowboys are trending toward getting key players back for their Washington Commanders matchup.

If there’s one thing we know about the Dallas Cowboys six games into their 2025 NFL season it’s that they’ll go as far as the offense takes them. It’s not ideal but the Cowboys are basically asking the offense led by Dak Prescott to be perfect. Perfect is hard at this level of football. But at least, it’s about to get easier for the offense.

That’s because Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer announced Wednesday wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is expected to practice this week. Lamb was a non-participant the last two weeks, making the development a sign that he’s closer to playing.

Without Lamb, the Cowboys offense hasn’t missed a beat. In his absence, George Pickens has shown his WR1 potential. Last weekend, he caught nine passes for 168 yards while playing outside and in the slot, a wrinkle to his game we haven’t seen much of in the past.

Schottennheimer joked as long as Lamb “is breathing,” he’s good to go. Sure, a joke. But a clear indication No. 88 is trending toward taking the field versus the Washington Commanders next Sunday.

CeeDee Lamb eyeing an unprecedented milestone

Getting Lamb back in the lineup will only make it harder for defenses to deal with the way Prescott is playing. Doubling CeeDee like usual will almost always mean leaving Pickens one-on-one. And if you want to play a light box and double both? Good luck stopping a Cowboys run game that ranks fourth in EPA/play entering Week 7.

Speaking of the run game, it’s not only Lamb returning to practice but a key starting offensive lineman the Cowboys have missed and a speedy receiver who puts stress on opposing defenses.

Right guard Tyler Booker and wide receiver KaVontae Turpin are also set to practice on Wednesday after missing the last two weeks. Though T.J. Bass’ effort stepping in at right guard has been admirable, the Cowboys believe in Booker’s physicality being a game-changer in the run game. Additionally, Turpin’s speed stresses defenses horizontally and vertically and he can be a complement to the run game by lining up in the backfield and running jet motions.

Though they’re not the elite playmakers that CeeDee is, the offense will look even better with both back in the lineup. Hopefully, the week of practice goes well for them.

Having the offense near full strength will be crucial against the Commanders. It will not be easy to fend off the efforts of a Jayden Daniels-led offense but the Cowboys need the win badly. Not only because they’re running out of room to lose games but because their path to the playoffs likely requires winning the NFC East title. A tall task. But one that starts with beating Washington.
