26-year-old edge rusher Jaelan Phillips from Miami to Dallas in a move designed to immediately strengthen the defensive front. Phillips, a former first-round pick out of Miami, has 24 career sacks across 51 games, despite battling injuries throughout his time with the Dolphins.
In 2025, Phillips has appeared in all five games, posting one sack and 16 pressures, a strong recovery after a torn ACL last year. The Cowboys view him as a perfect fit opposite
Jadeveon Clowney, joining Kenny Clark to form a defensive line that can finally dictate games again.
Team insiders described the trade as “calculated aggression,” reflecting Jones’ frustration with the defense’s lack of identity since the Parsons trade. One front office source told reporters:
