A devastating flash flood has struck central Texas, claiming the lives of at least 13 people and leaving more than 20 young girls missing from a local summer camp. Among the missing is reportedly the daughter of a well-known public figure, though her identity has not yet been officially confirmed.

The flooding, described by officials as “historic and catastrophic,” swept through the region after an intense overnight downpour, turning creeks into raging rivers and submerging roads, vehicles, and entire campsites. One of the hardest-hit locations was a girls’ summer camp, where dozens of children were staying in cabins and tents near a creek that overflowed in minutes.

Emergency crews arrived as quickly as they could, but treacherous conditions and continued rainfall have severely hampered rescue efforts. Helicopters, boats, and search dogs are now being deployed in a race against time as families wait in anguish for news about their loved ones.
