The elegant Australian actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in the series FBI: Most Wanted, Charmed, Nip/Tuck and his early 2000s adaptation of the Fantastic Four series, has died at the age of 56.

According to Variety, the information was confirmed on the Facebook page of the Nip/Tuck series . In a memorial post, Warner Bros. Television wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Julian McMahon. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and fans.” His wife – Kelly McMahon – said Julian McMahon breathed his last on July 2 in Clearwater (Florida, USA), after a period of fighting cancer.

Kelly McMahon shared: “It is with an open heart that I want to announce to the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, has passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer . Julian McMahon loved life. He loved his family, friends, work and fans. His greatest wish was to bring joy to as many people as possible.”

Villain Doctor Doom and his memorable roles

Julian McMahon began his career in Australian television series such as The Power, The Passion and Home and Away . His first film role was as a lifeguard in the comedy Wet and Wild Summer (1992), co-starring Elliott Gould and Christopher Atkins.

One of his first jobs in the US was a 22-episode role on the NBC television series Another World .

He then took on a supporting role in the series Profiler , before breaking out as Cole Turner in  the hit teen fantasy series Charmed . He remained with the series for three seasons.

Julian McMahon’s first major role as a television personality was as plastic surgeon Christian Troy on Ryan Murphy’s Nip/Tuck , a gritty and dramatic series that ran for six seasons on FX. In the film, he plays a charming but arrogant doctor who works alongside the character Sean McNamara (played by Dylan Walsh). This role earned McMahon a Golden Globe nomination in 2005.

Years after Nip/Tuck ended, Julian McMahon continued to make his mark with a starring role in the crime series FBI: Most Wanted. He played Jesse LaCroix – a senior FBI agent who serves as a leader and mentor to the younger members of the team.

Fantastic Four – The Forgotten Pioneers of the Marvel Universe

Julian McMahon joined the series in 2020 and appeared in 43 episodes, before leaving the project in 2022.

In addition, Julian McMahon also participated in many other television series such as Full Circle, Hunters, Runaways and The Residence.

Some of his other film credits include Red, Faces in the Crowd, Paranoia, Swinging Safari, Monster Party, The Surfer and The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat.
