According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Kansas City Chiefs will be without star wide receiver Xavier Worthy for an indeterminate period after the former Texas Longhorn entered concussion protocol at training camp.
Worthy, who left practice due to injury on Tuesday, July 29, was one of Kansas City’s most outstanding wideouts last season and was among the Chiefs’ top performers in Super Bowl LIX earlier this year.
Rapoport’s report about Worthy made the rounds on Twitter shortly after Kansas City’s workouts on Wednesday, July 30, while Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media at Missouri Western State University:
While Worthy is sidelined, Kansas City’s coaching staff will closely evaluate the other young pass-catchers that the Chiefs have under contract — namely Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Royals, and Nikko Remigio — to determine who might be able to replace the second-year speedster on the team’s 53-man roster in the event he sustains a serious injury in the future.
