UPDATE: “God makes no mistakes, I’ll be back” – Detroit Lions star moves fans with statement of faith after reportedly being out for the entire season, sending a powerful message about will, faith and the journey back to the top of the NFL.

The Detroit Lions have been dealt a massive blow to their secondary as starting cornerback Terrion Arnold has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a shoulder injury suffered during Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

A first-round pick in 2024, Arnold hasn’t gotten an easy ride, getting stuck with a sizable rookie dinner bill after joining the Lions roster. However, he has established himself as a staple in the team’s defense and will rue this latest setback as he will not be playing any more football in 2025.

The CB was ruled out in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game after aggravating a shoulder issue stemming from a tackle on Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins in Week 4. He was able to return to practice ahead of Week 5, avoiding an injury designation, but his day would end with him being carted off the field.

“Unfortunately, he’s going to be out for a while,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said, per ESPN. “He’s going to be out for a long time.”

Arnold made 22 tackles and defended four passes in five games, including two deflections against the Bengals before he exited the game.

His injury leaves the team short on defensive backs, with veteran corner D.J. Reed placed on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury last week. Second-year CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. is also out for the season with a shoulder injury.

The Lions, who were recently linked to a Pro Bowl edge rusher, also lost Khalil Dorsey, who left the game with an undisclosed injury, and they only have two healthy cornerbacks available at the moment, not counting practice squad options, ahead of their Week 6 showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Arnold reacted to the setback with a strong message, taking to X to share: “God doesn’t make mistakes I’ll be back.”

We wish him a speedy recovery.
